 Saint Mary's Way

A few months ago, my school held an event called SMW (Saint Mary’s Way) as part of our co-curricular assessment. While the 7th and 8th graders went camping for perjusa, the 9th graders were assigned to participate in the SMW activities. The purpose of this program was to help us understand the values that reflect Mother Mary. We were divided into several groups, such as altar servers, orphanage visits, choir, Sunday school, and neighborhood prayer gatherings. My close friend Orin and I chose to join the neighborhood prayer gathering.

At the beginning, we were asked to create a report about the activity we were going to join. On Sunday, September 20th, 2025, Orin and I attended a neighborhood prayer gathering at one of the members’ houses. It was held during BKSN month. We were assigned to read the Gospel.

The prayer began with singing together, followed by the opening prayer and the reading of the Scriptures. Orin and I took turns reading the passages. After that, we joined a group activity. The leader of the neighborhood prepared a small game where we were divided into groups and had to complete a picture puzzle. Then we had a reflection session where we were invited to reflect on the Scripture reading. Afterward, there was the Prayers of the Faithful, where everyone could share their personal prayers. The gathering ended with a closing prayer and the final song.

The next day at school, we started designing our Canva presentation for the upcoming presentation day with the parents. On Friday, October 17th, 2025, while the 7th and 8th graders were preparing for perjusa, the 9th graders prepared for the SMW presentation. I felt very nervous and scared at first, but I tried my best to stay calm while presenting. Thankfully, the presentation went smoothly and successfully.

From the SMW activity, I learned several values that reflect Mother Mary, such as obedience, awareness, humility, and love. I learned to make time for the prayer gathering even when I had other activities, became more aware of the importance of spiritual life, and learned to serve with a humble heart. I also felt the love from the community and learned to love and pray for one another, just as Mother Mary taught.

In conclusion, the SMW activity was very meaningful and helped me grow closer to God and others. In the future, I hope to keep joining the neighborhood prayer gatherings and build stronger relationships with the community members.
